China Travel Checklist — last updated 17 September 2026

The short version: this site has no accounts, no analytics and no advertising. Everything you type into the checklist stays in your browser — it is never sent to us or stored on a server. The only thing saved on your device is the fact that you dismissed the cookie notice. Cookies from partners (eSIM, tickets, transfers) are set by them, and only after you click one of our links.

1. Who runs this site

China Travel Checklist ("we", "us") is an independent personal project published at chinatravel.pipiboy.com. For anything in this policy, or to exercise a right described below, email support@pipiboy.com or message us on Reddit: u/pipiboy1.

2. What we do not collect

3. What is stored on your device

Exactly one item, in your browser's localStorage:

That is the only local storage this site uses. It contains no identifier and cannot be used to recognise you across other sites. Clearing your browser storage removes it.

4. Hosting and server logs

The site is served as static files through Cloudflare. Like any web host, Cloudflare processes technical request data (such as IP address, user agent, requested URL and timestamp) to deliver the pages and to protect against abuse. We do not receive or store this as a dataset about you — we have no analytics configured and no server-side database. Cloudflare acts as our hosting provider; see Cloudflare's privacy policy.

5. Affiliate links — what happens when you click one

This site earns money through affiliate links. If you click a partner link and buy something, we may earn a commission. You pay the same price either way.

When you click one of those links you leave this site and land on the partner's own website. From that point the partner — or the affiliate network that tracked your click, such as Travelpayouts — may set their own cookies and process your data under their privacy policies. We do not control that, and we never receive your name, payment details or booking contents.

Partners we currently link to:

We only list partners whose sales we can track and support, so this list is also a limitation: it is not a complete market survey, and some good options are absent because they are not affiliates of ours.

6. Your rights (GDPR / UK GDPR)

If you are in the EEA, UK or Switzerland you have rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability and objection, and the right to lodge a complaint with your supervisory authority. In practice there is very little for us to act on: we hold no personal data about you. The one stored value lives in your own browser and you can delete it yourself at any time by clearing site data.

Where a legal basis is relevant: the single local-storage entry is set on the basis of your action (dismissing the notice) and is strictly necessary to remember your choice, so no consent banner is required for it. Any processing that happens after you click a partner link is the partner's responsibility, based on the consent or legitimate interest they rely on.

7. Children

This site is a travel planning tool intended for adults and is not directed at children.

8. Data accuracy, not personal data

The visa, connectivity and pricing information on the site is community-maintained and indicative only. It is not legal advice and changes frequently — always confirm with official sources (Chinese embassy / National Immigration Administration) before you book. See the disclaimer on the main page. If you spot an error you can email us or report it on Reddit.

9. Changes to this policy

If we ever add analytics, advertising or any other data collection, this page will be updated before it goes live, and the "last updated" date above will change.
